The daring move to have one operating system for mobile and desktop finally comes to an end. In our experience the Windows phones are not as bad as the market share and economic failure suggests, but came to late to break the duopoly between Apple iOS and Google Android. The race for the third competing operating system is open again - if there is any race at all. 

As economists we are always in favor of competion within a market.

Roaming

Der Begriff Roaming bezeichnet das Benutzen eines mobilen Endgerätes (Smartphone, Tablet, Handy, ...) in einem anderen Netz als dem "eigenen" (Heimnetz), üblicherweise im Ausland. (Vgl. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roaming)

Mit dem Wegfall der Roaming-Preise innerhalb der EU zum 15.6.17 konnte man viele Veröffentlichungen mit einer völlig falschen Begriffsverwendung beobachten: 

"Welche Auswirkungen hat das Roaming-Verbot für den Konsumenten?" (https://newsroom.sparkasse.at/2017/06/09/sind-roaminggebuehren-endgueltig-vom-tisch/45557 ).

Nicht das Roaming, die Gebühren dafür sind verboten!

Wobei der Begriff Gebühren ja eigentlich auch nicht korrekt ist ;-)

EU-Roaming wird kostenlos, aber ...

Zwar wird zum 15.6. das Roaming in der EU kostenlos, aber deutsche Mobilfunkanbieter reagieren darauf mit Tarifen ohne Auslandsnutzung, z. B. bietet yourfone einen Tarif "nur für Deutschland" ohne Nutzung im Ausland an.

Wobei Tarife ohne Auslandsnutzung im Grenzgebiet, wo gerne mal das stärkere Auslandsnetz automatisch  gewählt wird, ja auch Vorteile hätten.
